Changes to www.Kelloggskorner.com

Posted by Adam Kellogg On October - 28 - 2010 1 COMMENT

We are making some major changes to www.Kelloggskorner.com. First off we are re-branding as Kellogg’s Korner from www.kelloggskorner.com. This is to support the new functions added in wordpress for Multi site functionality. Whith this change we are moving individual blogs to sub-domains, http://adam.kelloggskorner.com, Http://teresa.kelloggskorner.comhttp://jacque.kelloggskorner.com, and others. All posts to these sub-domains will continue to be listed here on the main page of Kellogg’s Korner. This will allow each person to maintain a unique look and feel to their blog. Something that better suits their blog content and aim. The only drawback to this is that the posts to personal blogs will not be included in the digest sent out via e-mail.

We are also moving the comic (which I have yet to start) to http://comics.kelloggskorner.com, as well as starting a flash games arcade at http://games.kelloggskorner.com. To support a community fo gamers we have allso added Buddypress functions to Kellogg’s Korner.

What buddy press allows us to do is create groups of users with common interests. The groups have forums, chat rooms and more. Some of the groups are connected to specific subdomains where the group members and post new content to the http://(whatever).kelloggskorner.com site. we are looking for thoughts on new groups that our site visitors would like to see.  Buddy press also has a feature for following/friending and private messaging other members of the site. With this I have also added the ability to link you facebook and twitter accounts to your Kellogg’s Korner activity feed so that cross-posting(facebook activity can show here and Kellogg’s korner activity and show in face book) is possible.

Considering this is mainly a family driven site. I would like to create some private groups for our family members, such as photo galleries and forums. Membership to these groups/sites would be limited and controlled my us. Only family members would be added to the groups and forums to be able to access these family based sites.

I have re-enabled account registration on the site.  I will be adding a form for family members to request access to the family group once I have added it and for their own blogs. I look forware to seeing you all on Kellogg’s Korner.
