I have been reading that many schools are going to start teaching Creation next to the Theory of evolution.

As you might have guessed I an a creationist, but it was not always so. For a long time I jumped on the bandwagon of “God could have used evolution and millions of years during the creation story.” After a while I found that the pure lack of evolution evidence does more to support creation than anything else.

I do not have an issue with teaching the theory of evolution as a theory, my issue comes in when they do not want our children to question the Theory and accept it as fact. I prefer my children to question the Ideas, examine the facts, and form an opinion for themselves. I know that my wife and my beliefs will be a strong influence on our children. Even then I welcome the questions they have about our beliefs, and often have an answer and a place to point them to for that information.

I want our children to grow up to be themselves, not mindless drones that accept information that is handed to them with out question. We, as parents, need to take an interest in what our children are learning in school. But, I think it may be more important for us, even those who home-school, to allow, even encourage, our children to think for themselves. I think the world would be a much better place for all if there were more thinkers that are truly open to looking at the facts and not the popular opinions.

Remember a bigot is not someone who disagrees with you, it is someone unwilling to listen to your side. I don’t want our children to be bigots, I want them grounded in the facts behind their beliefs.

What I will talk about in this weeks FF post is all the things that have happened since the last FF. I have not been online much myself due to all the changes that have been going on in our family.

First things first, I lost my job as a systems administrator mid December, just before Christmas. The reason I lost my jpb is up for debate, I am just accepting the fact that it was mostly my fault for giving them enough cause to let me go. Since then I have basiclt been a bum (SAHD) with no income at all. Those that know us will remember that we believe in at least one stay-at-home parent in the house hold. With out going into way too much detail, we found ourselves moving back to Alabama, with family. Where they are buying the company that they have worked for.

Teresa is now half finished with her Masters Degree in Criminal Psychology. The Girls are settling into their normal summers with the grand parents, and I am still unemployed.

As for my future, I have been called into the ministry, and am moving in that direction. So my posts from a conservative christian perspective on parenting will most likely continue as they have, maybe with a bit more of a biblical slant than they had before.

As long as FF continues to run, I will post being a father of daughters as the bible directs. Trying to provide insight an parenting for those who have not been where I have. We are raising two girls ages 9 and 4 and growing. We learn as much from them as they do from us. I will do my best to share our experiences and welcome any insight that you all may have for us.

I look forward to taking part in Fatherhood Fridays again. It was great when we were doing in the past at Dad-blogs.

We are making some major changes to www.Kelloggskorner.com. First off we are re-branding as Kellogg’s Korner from www.kelloggskorner.com. This is to support the new functions added in wordpress for Multi site functionality. Whith this change we are moving individual blogs to sub-domains, http://adam.kelloggskorner.com, Http://teresa.kelloggskorner.com, http://jacque.kelloggskorner.com, and others. All posts to these sub-domains will continue to be listed here on the main page of Kellogg’s Korner. This will allow each person to maintain a unique look and feel to their blog. Something that better suits their blog content and aim. The only drawback to this is that the posts to personal blogs will not be included in the digest sent out via e-mail.

We are also moving the comic (which I have yet to start) to http://comics.kelloggskorner.com, as well as starting a flash games arcade at http://games.kelloggskorner.com. To support a community fo gamers we have allso added Buddypress functions to Kellogg’s Korner.

What buddy press allows us to do is create groups of users with common interests. The groups have forums, chat rooms and more. Some of the groups are connected to specific subdomains where the group members and post new content to the http://(whatever).kelloggskorner.com site. we are looking for thoughts on new groups that our site visitors would like to see. Buddy press also has a feature for following/friending and private messaging other members of the site. With this I have also added the ability to link you facebook and twitter accounts to your Kellogg’s Korner activity feed so that cross-posting(facebook activity can show here and Kellogg’s korner activity and show in face book) is possible.

Considering this is mainly a family driven site. I would like to create some private groups for our family members, such as photo galleries and forums. Membership to these groups/sites would be limited and controlled my us. Only family members would be added to the groups and forums to be able to access these family based sites.

I have re-enabled account registration on the site. I will be adding a form for family members to request access to the family group once I have added it and for their own blogs. I look forware to seeing you all on Kellogg’s Korner.

Over the past few weeks I have made changes to the site. I have removed a lot of things, to include the forums and some sidebar widgets. I have also added some new functions, such as Serial listings. If a post is part of a sires they will have links to other post in the series included near the Related links.

I have also removed all most of the old cartoons which were not drawn by me or my family. I did this to make room for my new venture in comics. While reading some new webcomics I cam across B.I.B.L.E.. This is an interesting comic based on the mythology in the bible. After reading it for a while I decided that I might do something similar with Kelloggeskorner.com. I am going to work on an in-depth study of the bible, looking at Open translations of the original texts, mainly through netBible, and develop comic stylings of the historic and spiritual content of the bible.

I have also installed IntenseDebate comments plugin. This plugin allows for commenters and users to interact with more in-depth conversations. It will also allow you to rate comments and commenters. With the plugin I have also included the ability to tweet you comments. I am hoping that this will drive up the traffic to kelloggskorner.com.

We are also moving to a more Christian feel to the site. With that in mind, we have added a Prayer Request page. This page will be highly monitored and moderated to encourage a positive atmosphere for those posting requests.

Many things have changed here functionality wise. We hope to keep the content of the site similar to what we have had before. I will continue to post my political and religious rants, as well as try to diversify into more useful things. I will be trying to include more IT related articles, as well as some development on WordPress Plugins which I am now working on in some of my free time.

Things have come a long way since Kelloggskorner.com was started. I look forward to many new thing to come in the future.

I have made a few more changes to the site, as you may see. I have removed all the Ad space simple due to the fact it is not selling and looks bad with all the “Your Ad Here” spots on the site. I might re activate the ad space if we get our visitors up to a respectable number. I don’t see that happening until I get off my ass and work on getting the comic up and running the way I have been talking about for six months now.

I also added the ability to make some posts and pages only available to registered members or other groups that I make on this site, such as family only sections. I have not made any sections like this, but I now can. I thought about adding the LockPress plug-in to make pay-per-view content, but I will hold back on that until we have a larger reader base also.

I have finally come to a solid choice on the comic concept and will be working on getting something here… some day… not soon with how I have been working on it. I have largely cut down on my political banter and ranting. You really don’t know how hard it is not to rant about what is going on with our nation, but I have held my tongue for the most part.

I have also been neglecting my promise to make more Christian and church style posts. I am sorry for this, but I have had a lot going on over the past few weeks that has cut into that. I have added a plug-in that will automatically link biblical references to a web bible, so that when I do start posting more the links will be there for you.

I will soon be sending out an invitation to all my family and friends that may not know about our site yet. I hope many of them will come and visit and register for the family forums and such. It might also bring some more authors into our folds so that you can read more than just my thoughts on things.

There is much more to come as I build up the site, I am looking at moving the site to a better server with more space so that I can add a photo gallery, but that is in the future, well after we get our viewer up and some sort of income from the site to support it.

Stay toned for more banter and ranting from me, ad the some-day-to-come comic here are www.kelloggskorner.com

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/01/obama-calls-islam-great-religion-ramadan-dinner/

Our President has shown his true colors yet again. He has yet to find the “Right Church” since he has been elected. He has down played Christianity at every turn. He has praised Islam as a great religion that has improved the world (they bring death and destruction to all non-Muslims). He is doing to our country what Islam tells its followers to do. He is doing everything he can to destroy our nation from within, and also trying to convert it into a Muslim nation.

http://keeptonyblairforpm.wordpress.com/2009/02/13/twenty-facts-about-islam-every-infidel-should-know/

This British post which has defined Islam with many truths which are not told to who do not agree with Islam. I am tempted to read the Koran and contrast what I read to the Bible. In fact, I will do just that. I am going to start a study on Islam from a Christian point of view. I know this has been done by others, but I want to do it for myself.

We, as Americans and Christians, need to look at what is happening to our country, and our religion. We need to step back and look at the values of the religion that is now being pushed at us. We also need to look at why our nation was founded. We were founded on the belief that all men should be allowed to practice their religion as they please, and the government should not control or dictate that religion. Islam is a religion founded on intolerance of other religions. In the Islamic beliefs all non-believers are filth and less than human to any true Islamic believer. Islam is un-American in just that fact.

There have been, and still are, Christian Extremist groups. The numbers of Muslim-Islamic Extremist groups and the atrocities they openly take credit for far out number those by Christian groups. Islamic Extremist send there followers knowingly to their deaths, Christianity only tells those to me ready to die for your faith, not to go out and kill yourself for it.

Here in America, we have fought for equal rights for all people, regardless of faith, race or gender. Islam subjugates women and those of non-Islamic faith. If you are not a man or Muslim you are to be treated as objects not people. I will be reading the Koran to verify this for myself, altos I have read such things in many other places. This subjugation is un-Christian and Un-American. The constitution will not allow for this Islamic Law to be used in America.

For America to fully embrace Islam we would have to undo hundreds of years of progress in equality. Slavery is viable in Islam, we as Americans fought against this. All men are equal in our country. I do understand that there is Racism in people, there always will be. It is human nature to reject things that are different. In American Law there is no counting for religion, gender or faith. In Islamic Law all these are factors.

We Americans can not, in any way, accept Islam as the majority faith of our nation. Islam itself is Anti-American. Look at what our nation’s leader is trying to do to. He is pushing his agendas, fast, and hard, because he knows that with time people will see hidden agenda behind his actions. If it is not Obama himself with the anti-American agenda, it is those who are pulling his strings have.

I am sorry about all the twitter posts on Monday. I was working on redesigning the site to be more readable after upgrading to Comicpress 2.8. There are a lot more built in features to customizing the look of the site. I feel the site has an improved look and feel, even though all the information and blocks are in the same location.

With the slightly modified layout I moved the Banner Ads to a more pleasing location which better uses the space on the site. I also added a new group of Ad buttons at the top of the page. The two main ads will only display on the comic pages now, while the button ads will display on every page. All ads still start at $0.01 bidding through Project Wonderful.

I reorganized the Comics into two new groups which can be seen individually through the story line link in the menu below Comics. When I start posting comics by us they will appear as separate story lines under the same location. I am sorry for postponing the comic’s start for so long, we just have so much going on right now, with looking into a move soon and Teresa and the girls relocating up here this summer.

Under the Forums, I have added new topics, Family Focus and Bible Focus. I am hoping that these two new areas will be of great use when our traffic starts to really pick up. I have a feeling that will not be until after I do the official start of the comic.

I will also be trying to change gears in my blog posts. I want to work away form my political rants into a much more useful Bible study and family type post habit. I need to work on my relationship with God, and feel that my studies may help you, and your comments on them may help me.

I am also working on starting a genealogy site for my family. This new site, located at http://pgv.kelloggskorner.com, will only be accessible by registered family members. If you are a family member you must submit an application for an account which will be verified by a site admin or myself. I want to put together all the documentation I can to validate any genealogy data we list on that site. This will be a great resource for our family for generations to come if we can make it accurate and keep it running.

So that is all I have n the site upgrade and update for now. I will be working on my new posts and hopefully comic in the near future. I hope to see you all, and more, then.
